Prashanth Varma to direct Queen's Telugu remake

The Telugu version which was earlier titled Queen Once Again, was supposed to be helmed by filmmaker Neelakanta.

Queen, released in 2014, was a huge hit, and Kangana Ranaut's performance in the film was unanimously lauded by both the audience and the critics. The remake rights of the film was sold to all the South Indian languages, and it was announced that Tamannah, Kajal Agarwal, Parul Yadav and Manjima Mohan would be playing the lead in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions respectively.

The Telugu version which was earlier titled Queen Once Again, was supposed to be helmed by filmmaker Neelakanta. But now it has been announced that Prasanth Varma, who made the recent psychological thriller, Awe, will be doing it instead. It is also said that the title of the film has been renamed to, That Is Mahalakshmi. Notably, a famous Telugu television serial shares this title.

Meanwhile, Tamannah is awaiting the release of her romantic film, Naa Nuvve, alongside Kalyan Ram, Kanne Kalaimaane with Udhayanidhi, and Chakri Toleti's Khamoshi. The actor will also be seen playing an important role in Chiranjeevi's upcoming period film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
