Vijay Deverakonda’s debut song rankles religious outfits

CE Features

Vijay Deverakonda’s song WhattheF from his forthcoming release Geetha Govindam has stirred up controversy with some religious factions strongly objecting to its lyrics.

The Arjun Reddy actor feels there’s no need for the song to be played if it’s offending anyone. Speaking at the audio launch of the film, Vijay, in his inimitable style said, “Asalu entha gattiga eskunnarabba nannu! Oka rendu rojulu gattigeskunnaru...(What kind of reaction was it...for two days, an avalanche of trolling followed for my song.) Our lyric writer Srimani had to go underground as the manobhavala sanghalu were offended by the lyrics. As we have made this film to entertain the audience, we don’t want to get embroiled in any controversy and hurt anyone’s sentiments. We have changed the lyrics. I expected my first song (as a singer) to be a sensation, but it turned out to be the opposite. For all those trolling, I want you to sing it and send the clip back. If any of you impresses us, we will make that person sing the track for the film.”

The film’s audio was unveiled by actor Allu Arjun, who graced the event as the chief guest. Directed by Parasuram, Geetha Govindam, produced by Bunny Vaas is slated for release on August 15.
