Speculations were rife over the past week that National Award-winning actor Fahadh Faasil will be playing a pivotal character in Superstar Rajinikanth’s next with Karthik Subbaraj, which has Vijay Sethupati playing the antagonist. The team had been refraining from making any announcement regarding this.

Now, the Mercury director has put an end to all speculations, terming the news about Fahadh's casting as just 'rumours'. The film, however, already boasts of a large cast that includes the likes of Bobby Simha, Anjali, Sanath Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Simran and Megha Akash.

With Rajinikanth recently wrapping up a month-long-shoot in Darjeeling, the next schedule is expected to start in Madurai this month, where a grand set is currently being constructed. Vijay Sethupathi is expected to join the team for this schedule.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Superstar’s 165th film will have music by Anirudh, while National Award-winner Tirru will handle the cinematography. It is speculated that SPB will sing for Rajini once again in this film, which will feature the star in the role of a college professor. Meanwhile, Fahadh Faasil who made his Tamil debut with last year's Velaikkaran, will next be seen in Super Deluxe
