The huge success of Superstar Rajinikanth's Enthiran (2010) led to the makers beginning work on its sequel 2.0 as early as 2011. However, largely due to the delays in the VFX department, the film was rumoured to only hit the screens in 2019. Initially expected to be released for Diwali 2017, the Shankar-directorial finally has an official release date - November 29th, 2018.

The second part of the Enthiran franchise, also starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, 2.0 is believed to be the most expensive Indian film made yet.

While Akshay Kumar is awaiting the release of his Gold on August 15, Rajinikanth recently finished the first schedule for the Karthik Subbaraj project. Meanwhile, director Shankar will next move on to Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan.
