Uppi’s 50th will be a period drama

Upendra is currently shooting for R Chandru’s I Love You, but the actor has already started preparing for his next film. Uppi will be teaming up with a debutant director Adhira Santhu, and interestingly, the film is also titled Adhira, which means lightning. The film will be bilingual (Kannada and Telugu), and will be produced by Kanakapura Srinivas.

Rumour has it that this will be Uppi’s 50th film. However, an official confirmation is pending. As for the subject, Adhira is said to be a period drama about reincarnation, which will also have historical, commercial and suspense elements.

Adhira Santhu has previously assisted Om Sai Prakash, and this will be his first independent feature film. A short teaser by the director titled Adheera had caught the attention of producer Srinivas. Later, it was shown to Upendra, who was so impressed with the teaser, that it is now being developed as a full-length feature film.

Adhira, in all likelihood, will go on floors in August or on Uppi’s birthday (September 18). The team is currently in the last phase of scriptwriting, after which it will be finalised by Uppi. Meanwhile, an action teaser will be shot with the actor sometime in mid-July, which they plan to release on the launch date.

It is said that the film will have a stellar cast, with AT Ravish scoring the music, Kanal Kannan doing the stunt choreography, and Arun Sagar handling art direction.
