The centenary celebrations of the legendary actor SV Rangarao, popularly known as SVR, began on Tuesday in Hyderabad. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu presided over the event and stated that the honours and the sobriquets earned by SVR are too small for his achievements. “If NTR and ANR were the eyes of the industry, SVR was its heartbeat. He is such an influential person who portrayed diverse, challenging roles. He brought substance to characters with his performances that riveted our senses and satiated our sensibilities," he said. "From playing a grandfather to portraying a conjurer, he always looked convincing and earned great laurels. He earned his reputation for being a complete actor.”

Venkaiah Naidu noted that SVR always retained his simplicity. “Despite reaching great heights as an actor, his down-to-earth nature surprised many. He is the only actor to have said that he did not evolve as an actor. I think that speaks volumes about his character.”

The Vice President expressed that SVR's contribution to Telugu cinema can never be forgotten, and hoped that the young generation would learn from his films. “The legend of SVR will continue to inspire generations to come. Aspiring actors should learn the nuances of acting from such stalwarts. Only then can they excel in their profession, while leading a productive and fulfilled life,” added Naidu.
