On Tuesday, Prasoon Joshi, chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), refuted a report that the censor board has sought 300 cuts in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat.

“The makers have submitted the final film with five agreed-upon modifications and a U/A certificate has been issued. CBFC’s process is complete and any further news is absolutely untrue,” Joshi said.

A daily reported that Padmavat director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been instructed to delete all references to Delhi, Chittorgarh and Mewar from the film and that it had resulted in as many as 300 cuts.

Padmavat, which was earlier set for release as Padmavati on December 1 last year, has been embroiled in controversy over ‘distortion of historical facts’.

CBFC, in consultation with a special advisory panel, has decided to grant the film a U/A certificate with five modifications, including the title change and two disclaimers.

The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, is now slated for release on January 25. However, the government of Rajasthan has declared that the film will not be getting released in its State.
