Kaala to hit screens on April 27

Express Features

The release date of Rajinikanth's Kaala has been announced officially and the film is scheduled to hit the screens worldwide on April 27. The film's producer Dhanush shared the news via his Twitter handle, along with a new poster of Rajinikanth with a pet dog.

The film marks the second collaboration of Rajini and Ranjith after Kabali. The music of the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Murali G handles the cinematography. Earlier this week there were speculations that the film is slated for an April 14 release, as the post-production work was progressing at a brisk pace. But now the makers have confirmed that the film will release a week later than was expected.

Kaala has garnered a lot of expectations among the audience as the film stars Rajini in the role of a Tamil don in Mumbai once again, after the 1995 blockbuster Baashha. The recent poster, too, has kindled the curiosity of fans as it looks strikingly similar to the actor's yesteryear gangster film.

The announcement about the release date has created quite a buzz as Rajini did not have any release last year and his magnum opus 2.0 has been postponed due to its post-production work taking longer than expected.
