The film is being produced by Boney Kapoor and marks his company Bayview Projects LLP’s first venture in Tamil. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the film's music director, while Nirav Shah is its cinematographer. AK 59 went on floors recently in Chennai, with an announced release date of May 1, 2019.

Meanwhile, Ajith is awaiting the release of Viswasam, which is scheduled to hit the screens on Pongal.
