Actor-filmmaker Cheran had announced during the audio launch of Maniyar Kudumbam that his next directorial will star Thambi Ramaiah's son, Umapathy, in the lead. Though the title of the film was kept under the wraps, Umapathy told CE that he will be playing the role of an RJ and the film will also star Sukanya, MS Bhaskar and Thambi Ramaiah.

The film's first look, title and rest of the cast will be revealed by Vijay Sethupathi on Wednesday. It is notable that Cheran's next project after this film will star the 96-actor in the lead.

The filmmaker will also be returning to acting with Rajavukku Check, alongside Nandana Varma, Sarayu Mohan,  and Srushti Dange, and the film will reportedly star Cheran in a never-seen-before avatar. His last acting outing was 2013’s Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal.
