Danny Boyle exits Bond 25

Following 2015’s Spectre, it was announced last May that the next Bond film, Bond 25, will be directed by Danny Boyle. However, the director has left the project citing creative differences. The franchise’s official account tweeted, “Michael G Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.”

The film has had its fair share of roadblocks so far. A script for Bond 25 had originally been completed by franchise veterans, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, but it was reportedly put aside after Boyle and his Trainspotting co-writer, John Hodge, came on board. Now it remains to be seen if the original script will be resuscitated or if parts of the newer script will be retained.

Speculations have also been rife that Idris Elba will take over as James Bond after Daniel Craig steps down after Bond 25. However, at the red carpet of the premiere of his new film Yardie, Elba put these rumours to rest and said that he is not taking up the mantle.
