We had earlier reported that Vijay Sethupathi was likely to be on board for Karthik Subbaraj's next with Rajinikanth. And now, this is confirmed, with the production house, Sun Pictures announcing via their social media page that the Vikram Vedha star is indeed a part of the yet-to-be-titled project.

This is the first time that Vijay Sethupathi will share screen space with Rajini, but he has worked with Karthik Subbaraj on Pizza, Iraivi, Bench Talkies and many of the director's short films. While there were unconfirmed reports that the actor might play Rajini's brother in the film, a source close to the director has stated that he will be donning the antagonist's role. It is notable that he has already played the villain in films such as Sundarapandian.

With music by Anirudh, the project is expected to go on floors next month. While Rajini has Kaala and 2.0 ready to release, Vijay Sethupathi has 96, Super Deluxe, Junga, Seethakaathi, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in various stages of production.
