Vijay goes extra mile to play blind role

Sanchari Vijay’s Krishna Tulasi is one among the six films releasing this week. The film has kept the actor on his toes.

Talking about his back to back releases, he says, “With no big star films releases around the corner, producers are finding it easy to get theatres. The films I have been associated with, are mostly made by newcomers. While a few filmmakers are grabbing this opportunity, I am actually under pressure, as I have to promote one film after another,” he explains.

Vijay has high hopes for Krishna Tulasi, directed by Sukesh Nayak, which has him playing a visually challenged person. “Coincidentally, I also wrote a script about a visually challenged person but when this project came to me, I let go of my own script to take up this,” he reveals.

The actor likes to challenge himself with difficult characters, but admits that playing a visual challenged person is particularly difficult. “As an artist, such characters help me perform. But playing such roles is no ordinary feat. Acting blind even though you can see the world in front of you was the toughest. I did get frustrated during the first three days of the shoot,” he adds.

Vijay, who observed visually challenged people to essay the role, concludes by saying,"I often visited Belaku hostel for the visually challenged. I got a few tips while interacting with them. I was amazed to see how a visually challenged person can cook, play games, and even book cabs on their phone. Our film has about fifty visually challenged actors. They have become my inspiration now"

The film is produced by Narayana Swamy, with music by Kiran Ravindranth and cinematography by Naveen Akshi.
