Most of us know that Amazon has bagged the TV series adaptation rights of JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Now the makers have announced officially that it will be the most expensive TV series of all time.

In 2017, Amazon and Netflix were competing with each other to grab the remake rights of the epic fantasy story and eventually the former sealed the deal for two fifty million.

Apparently, the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos wanted to make a high budget series with the potential to overtake the success and grandeur of Game of Thrones. The Lord of the Rings TV series is touted to run for five seasons and the total production cost is expected to cross one billion dollars.

According to multiple sources, the series will have a different storyline, despite carrying the essence of the original.
