Filmmaker N Maharajan, who made the Bollywood film, Indian, starring Sunny Deol and Shilpa Shetty in 2001, is all set to make a sequel to it.

It is interesting to note that, while the Sunny Deol-starrer had the same title as Kamal Hassan-Shankar’s 1996 Tamil film (which was dubbed and released in Hindi as Hindustani), after almost two decades, the makers of both the Tamil and Hindi films have launched sequels at around the same time.

Sunny Deol’s Indian was a remake of Maharajan’s Tamil cop action film Vallarasu, starring Vijaykanth and Devayani. While it has been confirmed that Sunny will be reprising his role from the original, the makers are yet to make an official statement about the sequel’s principal cast and crew.
