Uncle goes on the floors

Express Features

Mammootty-starrer Uncle, that has been scripted by actor-director Joy Mathew, has gone on the floors. This is Joy Mathew's second script after the critically-acclaimed Shutter

Newbie Gireesh Damodar will direct the movie that has Karthika Muralidharan in a significant role. Touted to be a family drama, the movie is said to revolve around a teenage girl and her bond with an elder man, who she calls 'uncle'.

Though the makers haven't divulged anything about the story, the buzz is that it tackles a socially-relevant issue. The movie also stars Asha Sarath as Mammootty's wife. This will be the duo's third movie as a couple. They had earlier paired up in Varsham and Pullikaran Stara.

Uncle will have Bijibal as its music composer. It is being produced under the banner of Abra Films International and SJ Films by Sanjay Sebastian and Joy Mathew.

This is Karthika's second movie. In her debut Comrade in America, she was cast opposite Dulquer Salman.

Meanwhile, Mammootty who is busy with Sharrath Sandith's directorial debut will soon join the sets of Uncle.
