Express Features

After the stupendous success of the Baahubali franchise that raked in more than Rs 900 crore in collection worldwide, reports were abuzz that director SS Rajamouli would next make another big budget film in the form a cinematic version of the Mahabharata. The filmmaker had even spoken to Aamir Khan who was interested in bringing the epic to the big screens, and it was also speculated that Amitabh Bachchan was being considered for a role.

Recently, Rajamouli confirmed that he's not working on the film and was quoted saying that while it was his dream to make Mahabharata, he wasn't planning to start that project anytime soon, and instead he would start with his next project after a break.

When asked if there'll be another part to the Baahubali franchise, Rajamouli stated that there wasn't more to tell in that story, and while that was the case, despite being able to make hundreds of crores with the franchise, it wouldn't be honest filmmaking.
