Express Features

With the audio launch of Shankar's 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar planned to happen today, the film's cast and crew have landed in Dubai, where a press conference was held yesterday.

Talking about the film, Shankar mentioned that 2.0 isn't an extension of Endhiran and will be set against a different backdrop. The film is said to have a social message relatable to everyone around the world.

In order to give it a global appeal, they tried to rope in Arnold Schwarzengger. However, due to unknown reasons, the Hollywood star wasn't able to join the cast, and the role eventually went to Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who said his character is unique and unlike anything he has done before. The Khilladi star also added that for his role, he had to endure make-up that took three and a half hours to apply and an hour and a half to remove.

Rajini said it will be India's most prestigious film which will appeal to a global audience. When asked about his humility off screen, Superstar replied that nobody pays him to act in real life.

2.0 will have three songs, out of which two will be released today at the audio launch. Amazon India has acquired the digital rights of the film for a huge undisclosed sum. The satellite rights for the film have reportedly been sold for Rs 110 crore. Also starring Amy Jackson and Sudhanshu Pandey, the film will hit the screens in the last week of January.
