Dileep has a cameo in Savari

Express Features

Actor Dileep will soon be seen in a cameo role in Savari, directed by Asok Nair. The movie, with Suraj Venjaramood in the lead, is an entertainer. Though the director is tight-lipped about Dileep's character, he says it is a significant one. "We needed a popular face to deliver the message and there was nobody better than Dileep."

Asok says Dileep shot for the movie much before his arrest. "He is very professional and did his work on time. In fact, he was very enthusiastic about the project when I approached him. I narrated the whole story and he immediately agreed," says the filmmaker.

Suraj Venjaramood plays the eponymous Savari in the movie. "He is someone who earns his daily bread helping the Devaswom officials in Thrissur," says Asok. Savari, which will hit the screens next month, was shot in and around Thekkinkad Maidan during the Thrissur Pooram. "The whole story is set against the backdrop of Pooram. So, you can imagine how tough it was to get it shot. We had six camera crews placed at different spots, since there was zero possibility for retakes," says the director.
