Shekhar Kapur finds new way to tell stories

Shekhar Kapur, known for films like Bandit Queen, Mr India and Masoom, says he became a filmmaker because he could not “stop imagining and telling new stories every day”.

On Tuesday night, Kapur took to Twitter and said, “Those stories I can’t tell on film, I have started to narrate on Instagram.”

Kapur’s directorial debut was with Masoom in 1983, and he earned acclaim for the 1994 film Bandit Queen, which was based on the life of Indian bandit and politician Phoolan Devi. His biopics on Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age have also won him praise.
