Meghana Raj as Darshan's princess in Kurukshetra

A Sharadhaa

Shooting for Muniratna Kurukshetra is nearly done, with a long schedule left that starts from Friday. The makers hopes to complete the film by December 20.

The team, which had managed to rope in all the right people to be part of the stellar cast in Darshan’s 50th film, took a while to decide who could be paired opposite the star. And the latest update has surprised everyone. The role has been bagged neither by Regina Cassandra nor by Ramya Nambeesan, as earlier reports suggested, but by Kannada actress Meghana Raj. She is to play princess Bhanumati to Darshan’s Duryodhana.

Our source tells us that the actor, who recently got engaged to Chiranjeevi Sarja, was chosen after much deliberation. “Producer Muniratna was particular that they rope in a Kannada heroine to play Bhanumanti in this mega project, directed by Naganna, and they chose Meghana. They kept the filming of scenes with Duryodhana and Bhanumati for the last, and now, they are happy to have made the right choice,” adds the source.

Meghna has always loved to be a part of period dramas, especially after Allama Prabhu, in which she had a meaty role to play. The actor will join the team for this last schedule.

This magnum opus, which has music scored by V Harikrishna, features a host of actors including Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, Sneha, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Nikil Kumar, Hariprriya, Saikumar, Ravi Shankar and Srinath.
