An ode to Sachin’s fans

Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman, who’s excited about composing songs for his upcoming film, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, says the ‘Sachin anthem’ was originally a rap song.

He adds, “It was a challenge to compose music that would recreate the mood and the energy that permeated stadiums whenever Sachin Tendulkar was playing! I hope that this musical ode to his fans matches up to Sachin’s magical performances on the field. Creating the soundtrack for this film has been a memorable experience.”

In a statement to the press, Sachin says, “The chants were my supporters’ way of showing their love. I have been inspired by it innumerable times, and knowing that I have the country with me has helped me face difficult situations on the field. I admire the way that Rahman has created an inspirational anthem around this.”

The first song from the album, Hind Mere Jind, has already raised expectations. Directed by James Erskine, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is releasing on May 26.
