Express Features

We had earlier reported that the Mahabharata was being made into a film starring Mohanlal on a budget of `1,000 crore.

Now, India’s other celebrated epic, Ramayana, too, seems set to grace the screens on a grand scale. Reports say producers Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind and Namit Malhotra are coming together to bring the epic to the silver screen. To be made at a budget of `500 crore, the film is to be shot in 3D format, and shot in three languages: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and released in three parts.

The trio are not new to big-budget films. Allu Aravind has produced films such as Magadheera, Sarrainodu and Dhruva, while the other two are known for being a part of Bollywood and Hollywood biggies.
