Stepping out of comfort zone: Tanuja Chandra

The director's next is a romantic comedy featuring Irrfan Khan and Parvathy

Director Tanuja Chandra has completed her next romantic comedy entertainer which features actor Irrfan Khan and Parvathy.

On the sidelines of the premiere of Hollywood film The Big Sick, Chandra says, "I have just finished up shooting a film. Its editing is going on. I will call it an Indian romcom." The filmmaker says unlike her films in the past, which feature violence and female protagonists, her next one is different. "This film also has a female protagonist, but it is a romcom. There is no violence in this film," she says.

As she's known for films like Dushman and Sangharsh -- both of which had strong female protagonists, will she be breaking her own image with the new film? Chandra says, "Yes, I am doing so. I always wanted to do a light film. I thought drama is more my style, but I wanted to go out of my comfort zone, and so I did this."

According to the buzz, the story of the film will be on the lines of a travel romance -- it will focus on an unlikely couple falling in love during a road trip. It has been shot in places like Gangtok, Bikaner and Rishikesh.
