The stakes are running high on superstar Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, a sequel to 2010's sci-fi thriller Enthiran (Robo in Telugu) directed by Shankar. Already, the film has redeemed one-fourth of its budget of Rs 450 crore in the form of satellite rights.

Grapevine says that the Telugu theatrical rights of the much-vaunted sequel were snapped by Sunil Narang of Asian Enterprises for a whopping Rs 70 crore. By far, this is a record deal among Rajini's films in Telugu.

The film's shooting is nearing completion and the team has recently kick-started the promotions in a grand way. Also starring Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar, 2.0 has music by Oscar Award winner AR Rahman and will release simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi on January 25, 2018 .
