Nawazuddin Siddiqui who features in an important part in Sridevi’s Mom has got a different look with the typical north Indian dialect in the film. So to get into the skin of his character he approached actor-lyricist, Piyush Mishra. Piyush was Siddiqui’s senior at the National School of Drama.
The 43-year-old realised there was scope for improvement before shooting for the movie. He immediately thought of Piyush and used him as a reference to deliver the strong North-Indian accent required.
Nawazuddin says, “When I was shooting for the movie in Delhi, I was reminded of Piyush Mishra. I knew my character need to have a heavy north Indian accent, so I thought I could imitate him to see if it works. Surprisingly, when I started imitating him, it went well with the look and the character."
"I know him in real life, and meet him often. I also worked with him in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), so I have observed his work. He is multi-talented and inspires me as an actor. In fact, we would all copy him when I was studying at the National School of Drama, ”he adds.
