RJ Balaji says piracy cannot be curbed

Express Features

RJ Balaji's brief speech at the audio launch of the Gautham Karthik-starrer Ivan Thanthiran raised many eyebrows on Monday. He claimed that online piracy can't be completely controlled since pirated versions of new releases reach across the world in minutes, and are easily accessible to many thanks to the Internet. He further added, "Even Hollywood hasn't been able to curb piracy. So, as Kamal sir has pointed out, we should learn to co-exist with technology and earn money from it."

Balaji also candidly said, "Instead of protesting at the Valluvar Kottam, the industry people should adapt themselves to the recent developments in technology. Take Balaji Mohan, for instance. He has started a web-series for Hotstar. Also, SR Prabhu has been selling his movie rights to Amazon. This is what we should do. The government can only pass orders, but people should actually extend cooperation in this regard."
