The latest on the grapevine about Rajinikanth's Kaala, is that Huma Qureshi, who is making her Tamil cinema debut with the film, will not be playing Superstar's heroine in the film. Apparently, Easwari Rao will be playing Rajini's pair, while Huma will be seen in an important role. Sources also say that Huma will help Rajini take on Nana Patekar, who plays the role of a ruthless politician in the film. 

Produced by Dhanush, Kaala, which will have Rajini playing a slum-lord turned gangster, will mark the second collaboration of Superstar with Pa Ranjith after last year's Kabali. The film, which also stars Anjali Patil, Pankaj Tripathi and Samuthirakani, will have music by Santhosh Narayanan.
