The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of AR Murugadoss' Tamil-Telugu bilingual, Spyder, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead, have been acquired by Lyca Productions for a whopping Rs 25 crore. Raju Mahalingam, the creative head of Lyca Productions wrote on Twitter: “AR Murugadoss' most ambitious project with Mahesh Babu, Spyder's rights have been obtained by Lyca."

The production house earlier this year distributed Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback film Khaidi No. 150. Lyca Productions is also bankrolling India’s costliest sci-fi film 2.0, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. While reports suggest that Spyder will be hitting the screens in September, there has been no official announcement about it.

After wrapping up the shooting for the film, which marks his Tamil debut, it's said that Mahesh will join the sets of Bharat Ane Nenu, which will be directed by Koratala Siva.
