Kumki, which had Prabhu Solomon at the helm marked the debut of Vikram Prabhu. The film revolved around the relationship between a mahout and his elephant. D Imman won accolades for his music for the film. Prabhu Solomon is now busy with the making of Kumki 2.  

Word has it that Nivas K Prasanna will be handling the music for this new film. It is unclear whether Kumki 2 will be a direct sequel to Kumki, or if the director has just used the title alone. However, it is known that the film will have a different lead pair, and rumour says that the filmmaker has also chosen a different music director. 

Nivas has previously composed the music for Thegidi, Sethupathi, and Zero.
