Priyanka takes on ‘tricky’ cop role in Second Half

Shunning her glam avatar, the actress has worked on her body language to make the character seem louder

One look at Priyanka Upendra in her forthcoming mystery thriller, Second Half, directed by Yogi Devagange, and you’d see the authenticity she’s brought to playing the role of a middle-class police constable.

Having completed shooting the film last week, the actress says that she is now only left with one song shoot. Priyanka has tried to bring in her own unique flavour to the role as much as she could, she says. “I hope I will be convincing as a police constable because a few  people felt I wouldn’t be able to do it. But I don’t know what they actually meant. For me, acting is all about portraying different roles. That’s why I am trying out new things,” she says.

Priyanka found portraying the life of a woman police constable on camera tricky, sensitive and felt some pressure. “There were times when I had to work on my body language, especially the walk. I felt that I should make the character a little more louder than I am in real life. She has a soft side too, but being surrounded by men would have made her a little more tough,” she says.

Second Half also marks the debut of Upendra’s nephew Niranjan, who is one among the eight characters. Shalini, Sharath Lohitashwa, Veena Sundar and Naveen are among the other cast members.
