Ondu Motteya Kathe’s remake rights in demand

Express Features

Ondu Motteya Kathe, which released last week, has received much appreciation from the general public and also from Sandalwood celebrities including Puneeth Rajkumar, Ganesh, Rakshit Shetty, Karthik Gowda and Rishab Shetty, among many others. They watched the film and have lauded Raj B Shetty’s latest romcom, even calling it a perfect ‘egghead’ film.

The popularity of the film has led multiplexes and single theatres to double the number of shows. Meanwhile, from this Friday, the film will open to extra 25 single screens, which will raise the total to 42 single screens.

What is more interesting about Ondu Motteya Kathe, which has now become a brand, is that the movie was screened in Sampige and Sharadhaa theatres, which mostly see Tamil releases, and did good business at both. The filmmakers, who decided to move from Kempegowda Road, and consider Sampige as its main theatre are now happy with the results.

Meanwhile, the buzz created by Raj B Shetty film has crossed borders with a few celebrities and distributors from neighbouring Tamil Nadu watching the film. And in all likelihood, the film will be remade in Kollywood, as and when the interested distributors buy the remake rights.

The film, produced by filmmaker Pawan Kumar, is helmed by Raj B Shetty, who has also acted in the film along with Usha Bhandary, Amrutha Naik and Deepak Rai Panaje.
