Director Naga Ashwin’s biopic Mahanati, which chronicles the rise and fall of legendary actress Savitri, has got Hollywood cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez on board. The cinematographer is mixing formats for the period drama that crosses several decades.

“Dani Sanchez-Lopez is a recognised visual artist who works in the photography and video art realm. He is mixing several formats including 16mm, 35mm and Alexa with V-Lite anamorphic and Master Prime lenses, as well as a progression of diffusion and different vintage lights, are some of the elements used to achieve different looks for the past. Mahanati is assured to be a visual grandeur,” said producer Swapna Dutt in a statement.

Starring Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salman in the lead, the film also has Samantha in a crucial role.
