Vijay isn't a politician in Mersal

Express Features

Last week, images from the shooting spot of Vijay's Mersal made their way to the internet. One of those was a photo of director Atlee which went viral for the wrong reasons. Behind Atlee, in the image, there was a poster that had Vijay speaking on a podium. The poster which also had an image of Motta Rajendran, was branded as a political one and rumours were afloat that Vijay, who plays three roles in the film, might play the role of a politician, too.

But a clearer shot of the poster that's used as a prop in the film has now surfaced, and it's a welcome poster for Doctor Maaran, one of the roles played by Vijay, and from the wordings in it, it's apparent that the character is a doctor who returns from abroad after completing his studies. The other two roles he'll essay in Mersal will be that of a village head and a magician.

With two posters released for the film, it's also confirmed that there'll be another poster, which should be out soon. The makers have confirmed that the new poster's release date will be planned and announced well in advance. Bankrolled by Thenandal Studios, and with AR Rahman's music, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, Vadivelu and Sathyaraj.
