Samantha joins Sivakarthikeyan-Ponram film

Express Features

Sivakarthikeyan has started shooting for his third film with filmmaker Ponram (the duo had teamed up for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan) quite some time ago, and the latest to join the sets of this untitled project is Samantha. 24 AM Studios, producers of the film, welcomed the actress on Twitter.

According to sources, the film will have plenty of action scenes, unlike their early outings. "Varuthapadatha... was high on comedy and Rajini Murugan had family sentiments, while this one will show Sivakarthikeyan as a mass hero." Touted to be a commercial entertainer, the film is set in a village backdrop. The team is planning to shoot in Madurai, Tenkasi, Theni and Kuttralam.

As for Samantha, it's going to be a "different role" as she's been trained in silambam for it. Soori, Simran, and Napolean form the rest of the star cast. Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha are collaborating for the first time in this film. Balasubramaniam has been roped in for the camera work and Imman will be scoring the music.
