On Wednesday, director Arivazhagan of Eeram fame, who directed Kuttram 23 earlier this year, took to Twitter to complain that the film’s satellite and Telugu rights haven’t been sold yet.

While the director wasn’t available for a comment on the matter, the film’s producer Inder Kumar spoke to us to clarify: “There’s no denying that Arivazhagan is a good director and the film was a successful venture. I’ve been trying to sell the satellite rights for a long time now, but the TV channels are trying to arm-twist producers in order to acquire the rights for a bargain price.”

One specific channel apparently quoted an amount and the producer asked them for half-a-day’s time to confirm it. “I called them back in just two hours and they weren’t reachable. When I called them the next day, they said that since I didn’t confirm the previous day, the price has since dropped. I don’t understand if it’s a stock market for the prices to fall like this,” bemoans Inder Kumar.

The producer, who’s also producing Arun Vijay’s Thadam and Sasikumar’s untitled film, added, “I’m not a producer who takes money for interest. What I’ve spent is my money and I can’t give the rights away for less than its worth. I’ve decided to speak to Vishal about this issue. As far as the Telugu version is concerned, I’m planning to release it on my own.”
