Aquaman, which will be the only DC Extended Universe film coming out next year in December, has been rumoured to feature three villains namely Ocean Master, Black Manta and King Nereus. Filmmaker James Wan, known for his Conjuring films, recently addressed the rumours and issued a clarification on who exactly is the prime nemesis to Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

Wan dismissed the idea of three villains in his Aquaman saying he would never make an origin film with so many villains and believed in taking baby steps first since the audience isn't familiar with the main character in the first place.

He went on to suggest the rumored villains will end up having roles in Aquaman, but Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master is Arthur Curry's prime adversary.

James Wan, who has also directed the Insidious films and Furious 7 says he's most interested to show Arthur Curry in an emotional and powerful manner. He also looks forward to showing fans his take on characters such as Mera played by Amber Heard, and Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison as Momoa's parents.

Aquaman is scheduled to come out in theatres on December 21, 2018.
