Conveying his birthday wishes to Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan shared an update on Twitter on the progress of his Vishwaroopam 2, saying he is currently in the US working on the film's final mix.

The film's production has been on and off since Vishwaroopam released in 2013. Earlier this year, Kamal released the first look poster of the sequel stating that it would hit screens towards the end of the year. However, it now seems like the film will only come out in 2018.

Vishwaroopam 2's story will be set in India and will reportedly focus on a strong mother-son sentiment. The film will see original cast members Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Shekar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat reprising their roles, along with new additions Waheeda Rehman and Anant Mahadevan.
