There has been speculation for some time now that Samantha will star in a remake of the Kannada hit U Turn. It has now been confirmed that she will reprise Shraddha Srinath's role in this Tamil remake, which will also be helmed by the original's director Pawan Kumar.

Talking to CE about this film, which will mark his debut in Tamil, the Lucia director says, "The film is in the pre-production stage and the shooting will commence from January. We're trying to make it a bigger film now that we have Samantha in the lead. Because of the nature of the film, the shooting will be spread across three schedules." Interestingly, the producer of this film is also called Pawan.

Meanwhile, Samantha looks set to have a busy 2018 with films such as Irumbu Thirai, Super Deluxe, Nadigaiyar Thilagam and the Ponram-Sivakarthikeyan project all in different stages of production
