Yash-starrer KGF, directed by Prashanth Neel, which is currently rolling has artistes and moviegoers from across South India curious. The second poster, released on Monday night, was what triggerred this wave of interest. The retro look of Yash, who plays Rocky in the film, was a revelation and started trending online.

Production house Hombale Films will release this film in four other languages simultaneously. KGF will be released not just in Kannada, but in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi as well. This will mark the debut of Yash and Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty in another industry.

The team is temporarily camped at Mysuru, where the shooting will progress for the next one month. CE caught up with director Prashanth Neel to ask if this period drama, set in the 70s and early 80s in a local Kannada mileu, be relevant to moviegoers in other states. The director quips, "It is an huge film made on a massive budget, on a scale never seen before in Kannada cinema. We are confident about its appeal in other languages because the subject is unique."

He adds, "The film is set around a universal theme. The producers have liked the output and they believe that KGF can compete with the best in India. They have decided it will do well in five other languages. The producer, who has been seeing how it is turning out, has a gut feeling about this and has taken a call."

The periodic drama also features Achyuth Kumar and Vasishta Simha in pivotal roles. KGF has music by Ravi Basrur and cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda.
