No plans to postpone 2.0 release

The makers of Rajinikanth's 2.0 have denied reports that the film's release might get pushed

While rumours are abuzz that Rajinikanth's 2.0 may get postponed, the makers have said that everything is on track and the film will hit the screens as planned on January 25, 2018. Raju Mahalingam of Lyca Productions confirmed this on Twitter. Word has it that the basic premise of the film is inspired by the Ramayana, and that Akshay Kumar will play an antagonist whose traits will be similar to Ravana. We also hear that he is likely to have 12 different looks. 

According to sources, the sci-fi film will release in  2D, 3D, Imax 3D and IMAX Real 3D format, and Shankar has been shooting the film keeping all these formats in mind. Apart from the visual experience, Resul Pookutty has told CE that the team has been working to introduce a different kind of sound with the film, which would be more effective than Dolby Atmos.
