After actress Shruti Hassan had a fallout with the makers of the historical drama Sangamitra, the team is now on the look out for her replacement. With the attempts to sign one among actresses Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka and Nayanthara didn’t materialise, it is learnt that the team has approached actress Disha Patani for the warrior princess’s role.

“The filmmakers are evincing an interest to cast Disha Patani in the titular role and have initiated talks with her. However, the actress is yet to give her nod of approval and nothing has been finalised so far,” shares a source.

Starring Arya and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles, the magnum opus portrays the struggles and sufferings of the eldest daughter of King Ashoka and Queen Devi. is being directed by Sundar C and has music by AR Rahman. The film is being bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.
