Come October, football frenzy will grip the state, thanks to the Under-17 World Cup football tournament that will take place at Kochi. And, making the most of the fiesta are the makers of the Jayasurya-starrer, Captain. The team has decided to release the movie in tandem with the event.

“The shoot of Captain is already over. The post-production works are on. We are waiting for the tournament to kick-start to release the movie,” says Prajesh Sen, director.

Captain, which also stars Anu Sithara and Siddique, in significant roles, is the biopic of Kerala’s football icon, the late VP Satyan. Jayasurya will play the footballer. The director, in an earlier interview, had mentioned that the movie will portray the life of the football star as it is, including his death scenes. “We don’t intend to change or rewrite history. If there is any particular reason or cause for his death, we will feature that too,” he said.
