Aarohi Gowda will be making her debut through the off-beat film, Madve. The film, which has been doing the festival rounds, finally hits the theatres this week. Directed by Hindu Krishna, the film traces the marriage culture of the 1950’s. 

About her choice of role, she says, “For me, it was all about facing the camera, and I didn’t ponder upon whether I was starting with a commercial or an art film. The only agenda was that the story should be good. This film was more of a challenge to prove my talent to my father, who was against me acting in films. I hope to make him proud with this film.”

Twenty-three-year-old Aarohi reveals that the shooting for Madve took place two years ago, “Having gone through every ritual of marriage on screen, in my opinion, the customs are interesting, but anyone who has experienced it would feel that it's the most tedious task. I guess not even half of what the wedding rituals which existed in villages back then is in practice now.”

Aarohi, who is looking forward to seeing herself on the silver screen, has already finished shooting for her second project, Alexandar, which is also directed by Hindu Krishna.
