It's a good time for newcomers in Malayalam cinema. Be it directors or actors, it is opportunities galore for anyone looking to try their hand at acting or directing. Today, most Malayalam films have at least one newcomer working on them. Now, another young face is making her entry into Malayalam cinema.

Malavika R Nair, who hails from Chengannur, is debuting with National Award winner Shivaprasad's Sthaanam, which is releasing this Friday. Malavika first appeared as a child artiste in 2008's Thalappavu, starring Prithviraj.

The actor says she was interested in acting from an early age. "I used to appear in school plays and do mimicry. I got this opportunity because director Shivaprasad, who is a friend of my father's, thought I would be a good fit for his film."

Surprisingly, Malavika wasn't nervous about appearing alongside veteran actor Madhu. "It was such a privilege to work with a legend like him. I was actually more excited than nervous. I play his granddaughter."

The film, which was inspired by a true event, revolves around a factious feud and the subsequent events. Madhu plays an influential scholar and Malavika plays a salesgirl in a bookstall. Vinu Mohan is the film's the lead actor, while Joy Matthew and KPAC Lalitha appear in prominent roles.
