Ever since his impressive act as a students' leader in Thattathin Marayath (2012), Deepak Parambol has been a name to reckon with, when it comes to character roles. 

Even so, the actor had to wait longer to display his creative side as a comedian. Rakshadikari Baiju (2017) did exactly that and Deepak says more comic roles come to him now.  And Asif Ali-starrer BTech is one of them. "I play a student in an engineering college. It is a very comical role with a good amount of screen space," he says. But, the actor adds he needed much convincing to take up comic roles. "I was really apprehensive whether I could make people laugh. Though Rakshadikari Baiju made a huge difference, it was Kunjiramayanam that gave me the confidence to take up comedy."

He says his career graph has seen a change post-Rakshadikari Baiju. "I get more offers. In fact, I get lead roles. But, it scares me to attempt something like that. I am yet to gain the confidence to pull off a lead role," he confesses. 

Despite his concerns, the actor has taken up a film that impressed him. "It is an offbeat venture titled Ottamuri Velicham. It handles the very relevant subject of marital rape. The film is set in Bonakkadu Estate, Thiruvananthapuram.  I play the husband. It is an intense movie and I was impressed by the effort the makers put in. Everybody in the team was so clear about the film," he says.

Ottamuri Velicham has already gone on festival circuits and was recently selected as a Film Bazaar Recommend at the largest film market in South Asia.
