Interviews

Dad and I: Shruti Haasan

S Subhakeerthana

What’s the best thing about your dad?
His perseverance

What’s your favorite memory as a kid when you were raised by your father?
Many lovely memories... But I loved playing sports or working out with him. Also, singing and dancing! (Smiles)

What was one special thing you and your dad used to do together as a kid, and even now?
Sing songs for no reason - we can just randomly start singing anywhere.

What is the most important thing he taught you?
To be courageous, and to always be me.

What was the hardest thing you had to face as a child and how did your dad help you overcome it?
He taught me to think and analyse things practically. It helps me even now.

One thing you wish your father could change in himself.
Nothing at all. He's happy the way he is, and so are we -- his daughters.

Was Kamal Haasan a doting father when you were growing up?
He was, but also strict when he had to be.

Did you have a normal childhood - hanging out with him, visiting beaches together, etc?
Very much so. Both my parents are down-to-earth; so it was very simple and fun!
