I never planned on acting in films: Shalini Vadnikatti

A Sharadhaa

These days, heroines working in different languages has become the norm. Telugu actor Shalini Vadnikatti, who has worked in Kannada before, will now be featured in Mr Perfect starring Aup Sa Ra Govind, which is set to be released this week. Shalini talks to CE about her latest film and her reason for coming to the Kannada industry.

“I never planned on acting in films. In fact, a TV series in Tamil led me to my first Tamil film. While working on that film, I was selected for my Kannada debut Plus (made under Yogaraj Movies), and I followed that up with Rajaru. That’s how my career began in Kannada,” she says, adding that the same happened in Telugu as well.

About her experience working with Anant Nag for Plus, she says, “I still can’t explain the excitement I felt for my first film, when I got to share screen space with Anant Nag. Everyone knows he's a fine artiste.”

Shalini  says her role in Mr Perfect can be guessed from the title. “The heroine falls in love with a man, who she thinks is Mr Perfect. Over time she realises that he too has flaws.”

On the Telugu front, the actor currently has two projects, one of which is with Kshanam director Ravikanth Perepu.
