In Naan Vaazha Veippen, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's Majboor, Sivaji Ganesan played the lead, and Rajini was in a supporting role, played by Pran in the originalThe iconic Amar Akbar Anthony became Ram Rahim Robert and Shankar Salim Simon in Telugu and Tamil, and of course Rajini was part of both the endeavoursThrough Don, Amitabh Bachchan cemented his superstardom, and with Billa, Rajinikanth announced his superstardomDeewar is iconic. PERIOD. Thee might not be so much iconic, but it is a brilliant remake with a stellar Rajinikanth at the centre of it allOne of the more endearing remakes. Padikaadhavan (Khud-Daar in Hindi) had one of the finest acts by both these superstars. It had sentiment, comedy, love, action, and everything. A remake for the agesAn interesting remake, this. A contemporary film set in an interesting time period. Mard in Hindi and Maaveeran in Tamil is one of the more enterprising films in this listA personal favourite, Mr Bharat is every bit good as Trishul. Wish the casting in the remake was also on par with the gravitas exuded by the original, but nevertheless. A solid remake, for sure!By now, Rajinkanth already expressed his flair for comedy, and stepping into the shoes of Amitabh from Namak Halal, the former just reiterated that he was indeed could do comedy with Velaikkaran!A surprise addition to the list, because I didn't know Dharmathin Thalaivan was a remake in the first place. Kasme Vaade became Dharmathin Thalaivan, and Rajini once again showed he was multifacetedSuch an interesting film, and an even more interesting remake. Khoon Pasina became Siva, and the tiger roared loudThis is such a beautiful movie, cut from the same cloth as Padikadhavan. All emotions are encompassed in the roles in Laawaris and Panakkaran. Their breakdowns are so compelling to watch!Baasha is iconic. PERIOD. Hum, not so much. Baaasha cemented the mega superstardom of Rajinikanth. But the love the latter had for the former and vice versa just got stronger!
