Their first collaboration and Rahman's debut, Roja (1992), got his first National Award. It's tough to pick two from this album and we'll go with 'Pudhu Vellai Mazhai' and 'Kaadhal Rojave'

Thiruda Thiruda (1993) might not be the veteran director's best film, but the album is one of Rahman's best. We'll go with 'Veerapandi Kotayyile' and the brilliant 'Chandralekha'!

Mani's Bombay (1995) is undoubtedly one of the best films in their respective fields and it's unsurprisingly tough to choose two songs. Our picks are the soul-stirring 'Uyire Uyire' and 'Hamma Hamma'

The album of the epic political drama Iruvar (1997) has songs ranging from pure Carnatic to Tamil folk and jazz. Our choices are 'Hello Mister Edhirkatchi' and the beautiful 'Narumugaye'.

If we had to pick two songs from Mani's first direct Hindi film, Dil Se/Uyire (1998), it has to be 'Thaiyya Thaiyya' - based on Sufi music and Urdu poetry, and the amazing 'Sandhosha Kanneere'

2000's Alaipayuthey was another album that was met with widespread critical acclaim. It's difficult to choose just two and after much difficulty, we choose 'Pachchai Nirame' and 'Snehithane Snehithane'

Kannathil Muthamittal (2002) got Rahman his fourth National Award and given how the album includes tracks like 'Vellai Pookal' and 'Kannathil Muthamittal', it shouldn't come as a surprise

9One of their most iconic collaborations, Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004) has another spectacular album and we choose the peppy 'Yaakai Thiri' and the subtle yet intense 'Sandakozhi'

Like almost all their albums, Guru (2007) also has a mix of musical styles from a Turkish-inspired track to a love ballad. Our picks would be 'Aaruyire' and 'Ey Maanburu Mangaiye'

Mani's take on Ramayana, Raavanan (2010), gave way to another excellent album and our choice from the film has to be the crowd-favourite 'Usure Pogudhey' and 'Kalvare'

Kadal (2013) might be considered an underwhelming film when compared to Mani's other works but the album is still a brilliant one. We choose the love tracks 'Nenjukkule' and 'Adiye'

Yet another stellar album from the duo was from 2015's O Kadhal Kanmani. 'Malargal Kaettaen' and 'Mental Manadhil' are some of many peoples' favourites from the album

Kaatru Veliyidai (2017) got Rahman yet another National Award and the album has a splendid mix of songs. Our picks would be the peppy 'Azhagiye' and the beautiful 'Saarattu Vandiyile'

The album of 2018's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam was quite a mix and thankfully, it's one of the few albums where choosing two is comparatively easier. We'll go with 'Bhoomi Bhoomi' and 'Mazhai Kuruvi'
